Puppy Headstart
Mommy enrolled me in puppy head start at PetSmart. She went to my first class on August 21st 2002, so she could learn what she needed to bring for me and all about the class that I will be taking. I get to go to my first class on Wednesday August 28th. I'm very excited about seeing all the other puppies and learning to be the best puppy I can. I will keep you updated, as this page will be changing a lot throughout my puppy education.
Here are my diplomas from the schooling I have
had so far.

Today was my very first day at Puppy Head start. We went in and wow there were like 5 other puppies there. We first learned how to calm me down by getting a massage. Then we learned a few tricks, starting with different variations of sit, gotcha, and how not to beg. I did very well, then it became playtime...Well I can't say I was quiet during this time. There was this little jack russell terrier there, he was much smaller than me, and I barked at him for at least 5 minutes before we finally came together and started playing. I had no problems with the other dogs there, as most of them were bigger than me, like lab mixes and such, I played with them with no problem, jumping on their backs, and just having fun. All in all I'd say it was a good day, I learn very fast...and I can't wait to go back next Wednesday, for more tricks and treats. |

Today was my second session of school. I got to see all my puppy friends again today. Thankfully I sat way away from that little angry terrier. We worked on Down, Walking like a nice puppy, and Stay. I think I did pretty well all things considered, and with all those distractions. On a slightly funny note, there was a small Chihuahua that just couldn't quite wait till he was outside on the grass to make a puddle. My mommy always makes me go before class, now I know why...Thanks mommy :). I'm really looking forward to next week. I was much calmer this week, and I think I can really focus now and get these tricks down. |

Today was my third day of school. When I got there one of the big yellow labs was outside in the grass and we played for a few minutes before we went inside to learn. When we got inside it was time to do some tricks for treats :) First we did a review of all the tricks I already know for the slower dogs of course. Then we played "Pass the puppy" in this game I got to go all around the room to each family. They were all very impressed with how I did the tricks they were asking with no problems. After we played the game it was time to learn come. One by one we went out to the middle of the floor and the trainer put her lead on us and took our leashes off, mommy came out to the middle, walked way down the aisle and said Simba come, and both times she did I came very fast. No problem there :) then we did lay down and settle. Another fun day and as always I'm looking forward to next Wednesday to see all my friends again. |
